- Companion book to the 2015 exhibition "Frida Kahlo: Art, Garden, Life" at The New York Botanical Garden, tracing the evolution of the Casa Azul or Blue House (located in Coyoacán, Mexico). Originally built in the early 20th century in the neoclassic style, it was Kahlo's primary residence from 1939 until her death in 1954. The house changed over time with renovations and expansions and included a garden of tropical and desert plants, many of them appearing as motifs in Kahlo's artistic work, reflecting her love of nature. The book reproduces more than 20 of Kahlo's paintings and drawings featuring plants. Essays by Zavala, Groarke, and Coronel Rivera, as well as those by O'Rourke, Bye & Linares, and Daubmann allow the reader to appreciate the iconic artist with a fresh look. Book includes a list of plants and artwork in Kahlo's garden, a chronology, notes, and a selected bibliography.
