• Evaluation of technology introduction and diffusion programs in rural Cusco proposes alternatives both to unquestioning transfer of "modern" western technologies and to attempts to recuperate and promote on a wide scale indigenous, often ancient, technologies in settings characterized by individuated commodity production and extreme social differentiation within the community. Cusco case studies are followed by very general recommendations for technology development programs.
